Erw Fawr Outdoor Pursuits Club, originally named The Standard Triumph Rambling Club, was founded in 1970 by employees of the Standard Motor Company.  

The Club is a small Coventry based group with a countryside cottage based in Snowdonia. Currently Erw Fawr only has around forty members, meaning that we are aiming to increase membership numbers whilst maintaining the Club’s foundations of community and a passion for the outdoors. I have been visiting the Erw Fawr cottage since I was eight years old, and it holds incredible sentimental value.

I became involved in the Club’s communications through their first fundraiser in September 2025. I offered to create posters to be placed in the venue, as well as promotional posts for social media and email content.

Through this opportunity, the Club offered me the role of communications manager and a place on the committee. Previously, the Club’s only communication channels were private Facebook and WhatsApp groups and email newsletters. I created new Facebook and Instagram pages, as well as designing a logo and promoting these social media channels at the fundraiser.

The social media accounts are currently fairly small and mainly interacted with by current members. Over time, I plan to build up these channels to hopefully bring in new individuals and promote the Club to a wider audience. Furthermore, I am hoping to update the Club’s website as it is currently a private members-only site, and also have plans to create a zine for members in the future.

As well as this, I recently compiled the Club’s latest newsletter and am aiming to increase the newsletter releases from once a year to once every two/three months.
